The national spandex production capacity is close to 1 million tons/year
Domestic spandex production began in 1989, and Taihe New Materials (Yantai Spandex) was the first to enter the industry. Entering the new century, with the massive entry of private capital and foreign capital, my country's spandex industry has entered a period of rapid growth. At present, the existing non-industry head enterprises are basically concentrated in the eastern coastal areas, and generally have the characteristics of outdated equipment, low production efficiency, high energy costs, and weak profitability. The new production capacity of industry head enterprises is transferred to the low-cost central and western regions , and is expected to gradually replace the old production capacity. In 2020, my country's spandex production capacity will be about 870,000 tons/year, and it will rise to 970,000 tons/year in 2021, an increase of 11% year-on-year.
From the domestic situation, the growth of my country's spandex (dry spinning) production capacity is mainly concentrated in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, and Shandong. Among them, Zhejiang Province is still the industrial cluster of spandex enterprises. The chemical production capacity is 225,000 tons/year, which is in a leading position.
National spandex output exceeds 800,000 tons
Except for 2016, from 2013 to 2020, the output of spandex in China has been showing an upward trend. According to the data of China Chemical Fiber Industry Association, the output of spandex in my country in 2020 will be 839,000 tons. In 2021, the output of spandex will be 868,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.33%.
Spandex is the only variety in the chemical fiber family that only has filaments but no short fibers. It can be directly interwoven with other chemical fiber filaments on the knitting machine, or it can be made into covered yarn, core-spun yarn, twisted yarn, etc. together with other fibers first. Form, and then process and weave on warp knitting, weft knitting, machine weaving and other equipment. Spandex is an indispensable "MSG-like" textile raw material in the modern textile and garment industry, and it is gradually popularized and used in medical, automotive and other industrial fields. From the perspective of apparent consumption, my country's spandex consumption will increase year by year from 2019 to 2021, reaching 809,000 tons in 2021, which is slightly lower than the output.
